1. Deminor is recruiting a Legal Advisor  for its new litigation funding practice within Deminor Recovery Services

As a Legal Advisor and under the supervision of a partner, you will take the lead in identifying new assignments and potential targets for Deminor’s new litigation funding practice in several European countries (mainly focused on the BeNeLux, Italy, Spain, France and Germany). The function will comprise : contacting selected companies, law firms and insolvency practitioners in the above mentioned countries; preparing and holding presentations to prospective clients and business contributors; preliminary analysis of proposed litigation funding projects; liaising with local counsel and asking their advice on proposed litigation funding projects; preparing proposals and defending those proposals to the investment committee; managing pending litigation funding projects; participation in and negotiation of settlement agreements.

Required qualifications and experience

You are a Master in Law, having gained minimum 5 years of work experience (preferably in general commercial law or corporate law with some exposure to litigation) in a law firm in an international, Anglo-Saxon environment. You possess an excellent command of written and spoken English in combination with Dutch or French and ideally one other European language. You are a dynamic lawyer with strong commercial/presentation skills, a fast thinker and learner with an entrepreneurial attitude. You are a flexible team player, who likes to be part of an international team of highly motivated professionals.

2. Deminor is recruiting a Legal Counsel & Compliance Manager for its Brussels based investor protection and investment recovery division (Deminor Recovery Services)

You will help negotiate, review and draft contracts with clients (coming from all parts of the world and including pension funds, asset managers, private wealth managers, private investors, banks and insurance companies, family trusts, public entities, sovereign wealth funds and not-for-profit entities) and suppliers, including keeping up to date template contracts. You will be in charge of all legal standing issues involving DRS’ clients and act as DRS’ counsel for all legal and compliance matters in which DRS is involved as a company.  More in particular, your tasks will include: drafting of contracts with clients and suppliers, including keeping up to date template contracts; negotiation and review of contracts with DRS clients and suppliers; being in charge of all aspects of legal standing of Deminor’s institutional clients (research regarding foreign investment structures, including legal standing, corporate decision making powers, powers of representation of those investment structures …); client communication regarding legal standing and collection of all necessary documents; liaising with local counsel in the country of establishment of the client and the country where litigation is taking place; following up on procedural matters in pending litigation projects and helping case managers to solve specific legal issues; reviewing settlement agreements and assistance with execution of settlement agreements; generally, acting as DRS in-house legal counsel for all legal matters involving DRS as a company; being in charge of DRS internal compliance (checking compliance with group code of conduct; responding to any compliance requests made by clients or suppliers, ensuring compliance with new regulations, …).

Required qualifications and experience

You are a Master in Law, with minimum 5 years but ideally 7 years of work experience in a law firm (preferably in corporate law) or a legal department of a financial institution. Experience with investment funds/structures will be considered as an asset. Ideally you have gained your experience in an international, Anglo-Saxon environment. You have an excellent command of written and spoken English in combination with another European language, preferably Spanish. You are a rigorous, well organized person, with focus on detail, who is not afraid of directly dealing with experienced persons in major global asset management firms and financial institutions. You have the capacity to earn the respect of clients. You are a flexible team player, who likes to be part of an international team of highly motivated professionals.
